(13-01-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Hassan Ali Gagal (Moshow), a senior official in the Dharkenley district, was tragically assassinated in a daylight attack in Mogadishu on Saturday, witnesses and officials report. Gagal, serving as the head of taxation and a long-time district employee, as well as assistant to district commissioner Yusuf Hundubey, was ambushed by three gunmen while en route to his workplace at the Ex-control junction in Dharkenley district.
Responding to the incident, security forces reached the scene, removed Gagal’s body, and initiated an extensive operation. However, no immediate results from this operation have been disclosed. In a concerning development, the district administration and security officials have remained silent, issuing no statements regarding the assassination or the subsequent operations.
This attack on Gagal, a prominent and respected figure in the Dharkenley district, signifies a severe disruption to the recent period of stability in Mogadishu. The Somali capital has witnessed a reduction in violent incidents, including murders and explosions, a trend largely attributed to intensified operations by security forces.
Al-Shabaab militant group has taken responsibility for the attack on Gagal. Known for their history of violence and insurgency in the region, Al-Shabaab’s involvement raises alarm about the potential resurgence of organized attacks in Mogadishu.
