(04-01-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Members of Buurdhuubo business community, a district in the southwestern Gedo region of Somalia, have begun a public initiative to repair sections of the town’s roads recently damaged by El Nino rains.
Residents who have been battling with deplorable feeder roads kicked off rehabilitation works, calling upon well-wishers to join their efforts in restoring connectivity between the town and neighbouring settlements.
With support from residents, the business community has begun repairing a damaged bridge located on the periphery of the town.
The ongoing road repairs are being financed through voluntary contributions from philanthropic members of the community in an attempt to restore several damaged public roads.
There were unforgettable scenes of damage in Buurdhuubo for El Nino rains when a deluge of water damaged the town’s already rudimentary all-weather roads.
