(27-02-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Qardho District’s Governor, Abdi Said Qaal, alongside Deputy Governors, the Acting Secretary of the Municipal Government, local council members, the central station’s Commander, and department directors, inaugurated a new market aimed at supporting small businesses on Monday.
The modern facility, designed to house small-scale traders previously operating in flood-prone drainage areas, is part of a broader initiative to enhance urban infrastructure and safety. The relocation comes amid ongoing efforts to mitigate flood risks, including the opening of floodgates and demolition of at-risk homes.
Small business owners, currently situated in these vulnerable drainage zones, have been given a three-day window to transition to the new market space. The market promises comprehensive services essential for business operations, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for trade both day and night.
The array of businesses expected to populate the new market includes vendors of vegetables, fruits, meat, milk, clothes, shoes, and other essentials, reflecting the district’s commitment to supporting a diverse range of local enterprises.
