(09-02-24) BOSASO (Halqabsi News) — Puntland police on Thursday arrested two foreign leaders of ISIS in the Bari Region. The operation, pinpointing the Bohol area of Uffayn District, led to the capture of Hassan Ibnu Mohamed Ibnu Hussein from Morocco and Mohamed Ibnu Mohamed Ahmed from Syria.

A Puntland Police Command spokesperson emphasised the ongoing commitment to “intensify operations against groups threatening security,” underlining Puntland’s proactive stance in the global fight against terrorism. This arrest marks a significant milestone in Puntland’s concerted efforts over the last six months to dismantle networks affiliated with both Daesh and Al-Shabaab, highlighting the region’s pivotal role in combating extremism.

The capture of these foreign militants underscores the broader implications for regional and international security, signalling a major setback for ISIS’s operational capabilities in Somalia. The Puntland Police Force’s dedication to eradicating security threats continues to be a critical component of their mission to ensure peace and stability across the Horn of Africa.
