(06-02-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) held a landmark meeting on Tuesday with representatives from the International Medical Corps (IMC), led by the organization’s head in Somalia, Rolland Vellex. The session, hosted at SoDMA’s headquarters, was chaired by Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, SoDMA’s Chairman, focusing on strategies to expedite aid and address the myriad challenges facing the Somali populace.
This engagement comes against the backdrop of escalating humanitarian needs in the region, driven by ongoing conflicts, natural disasters, and health crises. Both parties underscored the urgency of enhancing aid mechanisms to ensure swift and effective delivery to those in need.
Abdulle expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, “Working alongside the International Medical Corps, we are poised to make significant strides in our humanitarian efforts. We must leverage our collective resources and expertise to mitigate the suffering of our people.”
From the IMC’s perspective, Vellex stressed the importance of collaboration in meeting the complex needs of Somalia. “The challenges here require a concerted effort.
