(27-02-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Galgaduud State Court in Guriel sentenced three men to death for the murders of teacher Liban Hassan Osman and his brother, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Osman, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The victims, killed in a village east of Guriel while visiting their mother, have brought national attention to the case.
Court chairman Osman Ali Hudey announced the sentences, underscoring the judiciary’s commitment to justice and law enforcement in the region. The convicted, Abdi Mohamed Hashi, Shuayb Mohamed Farah, and Bile Abdullahi Hassan, attempted to flee to Mogadishu after the crime but were apprehended by NISA forces in Adale, Middle Shabelle.
Farhan Ahmed Iman, the fourth suspect, was acquitted. Before the verdict, Iman expressed his regret over the incident, stating, “I couldn’t stop my friends… They came back to me after the bullets rang out, and then we ran away.”
The sentencing has ignited mixed reactions across Galmudug, reflecting the community’s increasing concerns over crime rates and justice efficacy.
