President Hassan Sheikh Leads Anti-Terrorism Efforts in Galmudug Visits

(01 April 2024) DHUSAMAREB (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by the President of Galmudug State Qoorqoor, Defense Minister, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, commander of Somali National Army General Muhidin, and the Minister of Interior Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, among other officials, in a concerted effort to strengthen national unity and advance the fight against terrorism, embarked on a visit to the districts of Harardhere and Eeldheer in Galmudug. This visit forms a critical component of the national strategy aimed at liberating Somalia from the clutches of extremist factions, with a particular emphasis on dismantling Al-Shabaab’s stronghold in the region.

During his engagements, President Hassan Sheikh hailed the courage and sacrifices of the Somali armed forces and civil defence veterans at the forefront of the battle for national sovereignty. The president spotlighted the recent victory over Al-Shabaab in Harardhere district, Mudug region, as a testament to the valour of Somali forces. In recognition of their pivotal role in safeguarding the nation, the president announced the promotion of all officers and national forces involved in the operation, underlining their indispensable contribution to the country’s security.

In his address to the community and military personnel in Harardhere, President Hassan Sheikh underscored the significant strides Somalia has made towards development and social growth, crediting these achievements to the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of the military and local communities. He praised them as the bedrock of Somalia’s future prosperity, highlighting their selflessness and resilience in adversity.

The visit to Eeldheer district further reflected the broad support for the government’s anti-terrorism agenda, eliciting a fervent welcome. Here, President Hassan Sheikh reiterated the need for heightened vigilance and effort from the armed and civil defence forces, emphasizing the critical role they play in ensuring Somalia’s enduring peace and security. This tour not only underscores the ongoing commitment to defeating terrorism but also reinforces the collective resolve to achieve a stable and prosperous Somalia.
