(28 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — HirShabelle President Ali Gudlawe Hussein and a delegation he was leading paid a visit to the offices of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) on Saturday. The delegation was welcomed by the Director of the agency, Mohamud Moallim Abdulle.
Director Abdulle briefed President Gudlawe on the agency’s ongoing efforts in the HirShabelle regions. The focus was on aiding the vulnerable and distributing emergency supplies throughout the administration. The delivered supplies included kitchenware, rainproof tarps, blankets, metal sheets, and construction tools, all aimed at offering shelter should any disasters occur.
Concluding the visit, President Gudlawe thanked SoDMA for its effective response during the El-Niño conditions and the subsequent liberation of areas within the administration. He also informed SoDMA officials about the onset of Gu’ rains and potential flooding in parts of the region, urging the agency to ready itself for reaching out to the vulnerable communities.
