(03 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has announced a significant reduction in violent incidents targeting Tuk-Tuk operators in Mogadishu, attributing the decrease to his government’s dedicated initiatives to address the issue.

Speaking at an Iftar event in Mogadishu’s Kahda district, PM Barre highlighted the improvement as a result of the government’s implementation of ‘A’ and ‘B’ operation schedules for the Tuk-Tuk drivers. The strategy was aimed at mitigating congestion and chaos on the roads, which had frequently led to security forces’ confrontations with the drivers, occasionally resulting in casualties.

PM Barre urged Mogadishu’s citizens to fulfil their tax obligations to enable the government to enhance service delivery, particularly in the realms of security, healthcare, and development. He emphasised that tax contributions are crucial for upgrading the city’s infrastructure to be on par with other world capitals.

In recent weeks, PM Barre has been participating in events across various districts in the capital, fostering cooperation with local administrations, and exploring both the challenges and prospects faced by the communities.
