Federal government military forces, accompanied by international partners, reportedly carried out airstrikes in the Galgaduud and Middle Shabelle regions. The first operation took place in the Ali Hayle area of Middle Shabelle, while the second operation occurred in the Baraag Sheikh Amir area near the Bal’ad district in Galgaduud.
The operations reportedly resulted in the killing of several militants and the burning of vehicles, including a water tank. The Somali army confirmed that the strike in Ali Hayle destroyed a water tank, killing several militants accompanying it. The second airstrike in Baraag Sheikh Amir targeted a Toyota pickup truck transporting militants near the Hareeriga Jimale area.
Latest reports indicate that the airstrikes were followed by ground operations by the Somali National Army (SNA) in pursuit of the militants in the targeted areas. As of yet, no international partner has issued a statement claiming accountability for the reported airstrikes.
