The operation, which lasted several hours, also led to the successful recovery of livestock stolen by the extremist group.
Hiran police force commander, Mr. Isaaq Ali Abdille, confirmed the success of the operation, stating, “We are committed to eliminating terrorists from the western region of Hiran. These operations mark the beginning of our offensive against them.”
The Ministry of Defence corroborated the police statement, confirming the neutralisation of at least seven Al-Shabaab militants during their attempted livestock theft.
This operation is part of a series of offensives carried out by the SNA in the last 24 hours, targeting Al-Shabaab strongholds across South and Central Somalia. This surge in military activity follows President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s recent visit to the frontlines of the ongoing anti-Al-Shabaab offensive.
