(18-07-24) ABUDWAK (Halqabsi News) – A high-level delegation from the Somali Federal Government, led by Minister of Security Abdullahi Fartaag, arrived in Abudwak district today amidst ongoing efforts to collect weapons looted recently. The delegation received a warm welcome from local officials and community members.
The Minister is scheduled to hold meetings with the district administration and community leaders to discuss the government’s plan to retrieve the looted weapons. This initiative is part of a broader effort to restore stability and security in the region following recent unrest.
The Federal Government has expressed its commitment to recovering the weapons and engaging in dialogue with the community to address the root causes of the conflict. In a statement, the Ministry of Interior reiterated its dedication to upholding national security and condemned any actions that disrupt peace.
Local leaders, including Ugas Mohamed Ugas Ahmed, have voiced their support for the government’s efforts to collect the weapons and restore order. They emphasised the need to address the presence of armed groups and illegal weapons in the region, which pose a significant threat to security.
