(17-07-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – MP Malik Abdalla today launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre’s government, accusing it of incompetence and failing to address the nation’s worsening crisis.
Speaking in parliament, Abdalla warned that the Somali people are growing increasingly disillusioned and could soon take matters into their own hands, citing recent protests in neighbouring Kenya as a potential model.
“This government has failed to fulfil its promises,” he declared, calling for the prime minister’s immediate resignation.”We are asking him to resign, maybe there is a chance to save the country.”
Abdalla also raised concerns about the looting of weapons in Abudwak district, alleging that the weapons were intended for Al-Shabaab. He urged the people of Abudwak to hold onto the weapons, claiming they were rightfully Somali property.
The MP’s remarks come amidst growing discontent with the government, particularly over its handling of the economy and security. This discontent has been increasingly vocal among members of parliament since the opening of the fifth session earlier this month.
