(28 Aug 2024) BAIDOA (Halqabsi News) – Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in the South West city of Baidoa last night. The attacks targeted two houses belonging to security force officers, causing damage to the buildings and injuring some of the officers’ relatives and guards. The officers themselves were not at home at the time of the attacks.
Al-Shabaab said in a statement that the attacks were successful and that they had targeted high-ranking officers of the South West administration’s Darwish forces. The group has been active in Baidoa recently and carried out an artillery attack on the city’s Shati Gadud airport.
The situation in Baydhaba is now calm, but security forces continue searching for the attackers.
