(07 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The second phase of consultations on reviewing Chapters 5-9 of the Constitution started on Wednesday, according to the Independent Constitutional Review Commission (ICRIC). This phase aims to engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including citizens, to collect diverse perspectives on the constitutional framework.
The review process, led by ICRIC Chairperson Burhan Adan Omar, will focus on dialogues with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and government entities across the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), Federal Member States (FMS), Banadir Regional Administration (BRA), and SSC-Khaatumo. These discussions are designed to ensure that the constitutional amendments reflect the aspirations and needs of all community segments.
To accommodate stakeholders who cannot participate in person, the ICRIC has also established a digital platform to enhance inclusivity by providing remote access to the consultation sessions, allowing a broader audience to contribute to the discussions.
With upcoming visits planned to the Federal Member States and SSC-Khaatumo, the Commission aims to foster dialogue and collaboration, essential for achieving a comprehensive and representative constitutional amendment process.
