(02 Sep 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – A ceremony in Mogadishu today honoured taxpayers for their crucial role in Somalia’s reconstruction, with attendance from key government officials, business leaders, and other dignitaries. The event underscored the importance of taxpayer contributions in supporting the country’s rebuilding efforts.
Manager of Mogadishu Port, Abdullahi Abshir Sharif, highlighted the impact of taxpayer contributions, crediting them with helping to stabilise government finances. He noted that these efforts have ensured that government employees no longer need additional financial support.
Officials, including the Director-General of the Revenue Department, Faisal Mohamed Hashi, and the Director of Customs, Abukar Sheikh Ahmed emphasised the government’s efforts to modernise tax systems. They urged continued public participation in the newly introduced sales tax to further the nation’s progress.
