(18 Sep 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Jama, met with the UK’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, Alison Blackburne, accompanied by British Ambassador Mike Nithavrianakis. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and addressing regional security issues.
Both sides explored efforts to enhance security, particularly in combating regional terrorist threats. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of international collaboration in stabilising the region and strengthening ties between Somalia and the UK.
The UK representatives reaffirmed their government’s commitment to supporting Somalia and praised its progress in security and stabilization. The envoy also met with Finance Minister Bihi Egeh and discussed Somalia’s economic reforms, growth plans and regional trade ambitions with the UK.
