(18 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) –A powerful drone strike has been launched in the eastern part of Galgaduud, targeting Al-Shabaab militants. The attack was carried out by Somalia’s international partners, who support the ongoing war against terrorism in the region.
Preliminary reports indicate that the strike occurred in areas where joint operations between the Somali federal forces and local militias, known as Maawileyda, were already underway. While the Somali federal government has not yet released the specific details of the casualties or damage inflicted, the attack is believed to have been aimed at Al-Shabaab fighters stationed there.
No official comment has been made by the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), which frequently assists the Somali government in its anti-terrorism air campaigns.
This drone strike follows similar attacks a week ago, where Somali authorities claimed to have killed dozens of Al-Shabaab members in targeted operations in the same region.
