(31 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somali special forces Danab and Gorgor, with support from residents, have reportedly eliminated 15 Al-Shabaab militants in an operation in the Qaycad village, Southern Mudug region. The military action targeted Al-Shabaab positions in the sands of Qaycad, ultimately bringing the entire area under Somali National Army control.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, “all the areas targeted by the enemy have been completely taken over by the Armed Forces.” This marks an important advance in Somalia’s intensified efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab, with recent coordinated operations across the country putting the group on the defensive.
Somalia’s government, supported by local communities, prioritises these anti-terror efforts, aiming to restore security and stability across the country.
