(17 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and the United Nations Special Envoy to Somalia, James Swan, warmly welcomed the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo, during her visit to Mogadishu today.
Ambassador Fiqi provided Mss DiCarlo with an update on Somalia’s progress in strengthening security, the outcomes of the National Consultative Council, and the Federal Government’s proposals regarding the African Union’s Support to Somalia (AUSSOM) mission.
In response, Mss DiCarlo reaffirmed the United Nations’ continued support for Somalia, particularly highlighting the role of the Somali team within the Security Council. Ambassador Fiqi praised this support, noting the vital contributions the team would make both in New York and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of Somalia’s broader international engagements.
