(15 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – One person was killed in a shootout at Hormuud Telecom’s headquarters in Mogadishu on Tuesday morning. The incident began around 7:30 a.m. when two men, dressed in military uniforms, attempted to withdraw funds using a number not registered to them. However, Hormuud staff declined the transaction due to a lack of proper identification, prompting the men to leave.
Shortly afterwards, the men returned with a woman, allegedly to assist with the transaction. However, the situation escalated when the woman hinted she had been abducted by the men. A gunfight erupted between the suspects and Hormuud’s security personnel, resulting in the death of one of the men, while the other managed to escape.
In a statement, Hormuud confirmed that the Somali Police Force had been alerted and is currently investigating the incident to determine further details.
