(18 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — An improvised explosive device (IED) explosion has claimed the lives of at least four people travelling to Wanlaweyn district in the Lower Shabelle region. The incident occurred when a Toyota Probox that left Doonka village struck the device, triggering an explosion that killed all occupants, including the driver.
Remnants of IEDs, mostly planted by Al-Shabaab, remain a deadly hazard across Somalia. Despite continued clearance efforts, such explosives continue to cause frequent casualties, particularly in areas of active conflict between federal government forces and Al-Shabaab militants.
