(12 Nov 2024) RIYADH (Halqabsi News) — Foreign Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi met his Egyptian Counterpart Dr. Badr Abdel Aty on Tuesday morning in Riyadh, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit. The ministers discussed strengthening bilateral ties between Somalia and Egypt, addressed current regional developments and shared concerns. Minister Fiqi expressed Somalia’s gratitude for Egypt’s support in countering terrorism and upholding Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial unity, extending thanks on behalf of the Somali government and people to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian nation.
Following their October 10, 2024, bilateral summit in Asmara, Dr. Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to ongoing coordination with Somalia. He underscored Egypt’s respect for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and its support for Somalia’s efforts to counter terrorism and establish state authority across its territories.
