(07 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Jubbaland forces have claimed responsibility for targeting a cargo plane allegedly carrying supplies to government troops in Raskambooni, Lower Jubba. The plane, which reportedly departed from Mogadishu, was forced to make an emergency landing near the Kenyan border after being hit by anti-aircraft fire.
This incident marks another escalation in the strained relationship between Jubbaland and Somalia’s federal government, with both sides imposing reciprocal flight bans. The federal government has accused Jubbaland of defying national authority, while Jubbaland insists its measures are necessary for regional security.
The political dispute between the two sides has escalated in recent weeks, with both sides accusing each other of undermining Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ongoing tensions have raised concerns about the potential for further violence and instability in the region.
