(19 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali National Armed Forces have dismantled key Al-Shabaab positions in the Middle Shabelle region, delivering a major blow to the extremist group. The operation, conducted in the Mahaday district villages of Dinlawe and Hurwaa, successfully targeted militant hideouts without encountering significant resistance. Military officials described the mission as a critical success in the ongoing campaign against extremism.
While Al-Shabaab has not yet commented, the Somali National Army has lauded the operation as a pivotal step toward restoring security in the region.
Despite this success, tensions remain high in the Mahaday district, with increased military activity and signs of potential counteraction.
Middle Shabelle, governed under HirShabelle State, remains a frontline in the fight against Al-Shabaab. Government forces and local communities continue joint efforts to neutralise the group’s influence and achieve lasting stability.
