(03 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced the killing of 27 members of the militant group in a major operation conducted in the Yaaqle area of the Middle Shabelle region. According to the agency, more than 30 others were injured in the operation.
The operation, carried out in coordination with the Somali National Army, is part of a wider effort to clear the region of the militant group, which has been responsible for several attacks on civilians and security forces across the country.
NISA confirmed that the operation remains ongoing, targeting what it described as the “remnants of the Khawarij” who continue to pose a threat to the Somali population.
The agency has urged civilians to avoid areas where the group is known to be active, emphasising that such locations remain priority targets for the security forces.
