(02 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali Police Force Commissioner, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, led a high-level meeting with international partners to discuss enhancing police operations and support. Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Security and the National Security Office also attended the session.
Discussions centred on bolstering donor contributions for police training, development projects, and supporting efforts in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Brigadier General Abdullahi highlighted the need for a capable police force to secure areas liberated from militant groups, stressing the critical role of international assistance in improving infrastructure and operational capacity.
Delegates from the U.S., U.K., Italy, UNTMIS, UNSOS Police, EUCAP, ATMIS Police, UNDP, IOM, UNMAS, Adam Smith International, and IDLO commended the Somali Police Force’s strategic plans and the commander’s leadership. They pledged to enhance support through training, capacity-building programmes, and providing essential resources.
