(04 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud convened an urgent high-level meeting on Wednesday to address financing for terrorism. The meeting, attended by the National Anti-Money Laundering Committee (NAMLC), security agencies, and other key government entities, built on the government’s earlier successes in combating terrorist groups’ financial networks.
Discussions focused on accelerating efforts to dismantle terrorism financing, resulting in firm resolutions targeting anyone involved in such activities. President Mohamud stressed that those supporting terrorism financing would face severe legal consequences. He directed government agencies, particularly security forces, to take swift, multi-faceted measures to stop the extortion of citizens by the militant group
The President also issued a strong warning to businesspeople and the public, urging them to avoid any dealings with the outlawed outfit. He affirmed that anyone implicated in terrorism financing would face strict legal action. He concluded by saying that the Federal Government remains committed to eliminating terrorism threats to strengthen the nation’s security and stability.
