The Puntland Police Command has announced the recruitment of 500 university graduates to be trained as police officers. This marks the first time the force has exclusively selected candidates with higher education qualifications.
The police command confirmed in a statement that the recruits, comprising both men and women, were chosen from a pool of university graduates. The selected candidates will undergo training to become police officers and specialise in various fields.
“The Puntland State Police Force has recruited 500 young university graduates, both men and women, who successfully applied for the programme. They will be trained as officers and in specialised roles,” the statement read in part.
The recruitment process is ongoing, with registration open until 25 December 2024. Training for the recruits is scheduled to begin on 1 January, 2025. Police Commander Brigadier General Muumin Abdi Shire visited the recruitment committee to oversee their work as they prepared for the upcoming training course.
