(17 Feb 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The regional administration of Galmudug state has delivered food aid and logistical support to Puntland forces battling ISIS-affiliated militants in the Bari region.
A delegation from Galmudug, including officials from Mudug and the Galmudug-controlled part of Galkayo, arrived in Boosaaso with supplies. Galmudug officials said this was the first of several planned contributions.
Puntland’s Minister of Livestock expressed gratitude for the support. “Puntland and Galmudug share a common enemy—terrorism. Our unity is crucial in defeating terrorism,” he said.
Galmudug’s Galkayo Governor, Abdirahman Sheikh Hassan, also visited the frontlines in the Calmiskaad mountains.
Earlier, civilians in Galmudug had mobilized aid, providing food, supplies, and combat gear.
The aid delivery highlights increasing cooperation between Puntland and Galmudug, two of Somalia’s Federal Member States. The ongoing Puntland offensive in Bari region continues as forces push to eliminate ISIS strongholds.
