Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has pledged to tighten security across the region, vowing that under his leadership, Puntland will not witness another breakdown in law and order. Speaking in Bosaso during a meeting with clan elders, intellectuals, and traditional leaders from the Bari region, President Deni underscored his administration’s commitment to eliminating ISIS-affiliated militants and safeguarding the region. The president lauded the people of Puntland—particularly those in Bari—for their resilience and contributions to the ongoing fight against the terrorist group. He assured that the sacrifices of Puntland’s fallen soldiers would not be in vain.
“The blood of our martyrs will not be spilled for nothing. Their legacy will be seen across Puntland’s cities and towns. May Allah have mercy on those we have lost and grant swift recovery to the wounded,” President Deni declared. Acknowledging past security failures, he pledged that his administration would leave no stone unturned in restoring stability. He issued a stern warning to anyone attempting to disrupt peace and order.
“As long as I hold office, I promise there will be no room for security negligence. No one will be given a free pass—regardless of who they are or how influential they may be,” he asserted. President Deni’s remarks come amid ongoing security operations against the Islamic State in Somalia (ISIS) group, with President Deni pitching tent in Bosaso since the start of the operations in late 2024.
