The Federal Government of Somalia has unveiled the National Transformation Plan (NTP-I 2025-2029), a strategic roadmap aimed at fostering economic growth, governance reforms, social development, and climate resilience. The plan was launched in Mogadishu at a high-level event attended by government officials, Federal Member State representatives, private sector leaders, civil society organisations, and international partners. Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre inaugurated the initiative, emphasising its importance in shaping a stable and prosperous Somalia.
The NTP is structured around four core pillars: Transformational Governance to enhance rule of law and security reforms, Sustainable Economic Transformation to drive infrastructure development and trade, Social and Human Capital Transformation focusing on education, healthcare, and youth empowerment, and Environmental and Climate Resilience to address climate challenges. The plan aligns with Somalia’s Centennial Vision 2060 and replaces previous National Development Plans (NDPs), shifting focus from traditional approaches to a results-driven national transformation agenda.
Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, Mohamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene), highlighted the NTP as a commitment to meaningful change, reflecting the aspirations of the Somali people. He emphasised that the plan was developed through broad consultations with Federal Member States, private sector stakeholders, civil society, and international partners. This participatory approach ensures national ownership and provides a clear implementation roadmap with measurable outcomes.
The Somali government has called on both national and international partners to support the successful execution of the plan. By fostering collaboration, the NTP aims to drive tangible progress in governance, economic growth, and social well-being, positioning Somalia on a path toward long-term stability and self-reliance.
