(26 Feb 2025) GAROWE (Halqabsi News) — An airstrike in Somalia’s Puntland federal member state has killed 25 ISIS militants, according to Puntland officials.
The strike, which took place on Tuesday night in the village of Miraale, in the Al-Miskaad Mountains of Bari region, targeted militants who were reportedly regrouping in the area.
The Puntland Security Forces (PSF) said the airstrike was carried out by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of its support for Puntland’s counter-terrorism operations.
“An airstrike in Miraale–Al-Miskaad has killed 25 ISIS terrorists who were regrouping in the area. Our partners, the UAE, executed the strike,” the PSF said in a statement.
The US and UAE have previously conducted airstrikes against ISIS targets in northern Somalia.
Puntland forces, with the support of international allies, are continuing operations against ISIS and Al-Shabab militants in the Bari region.
