Puntland Defence Forces announced the killing of more than 23 ISIS fighters during a large-scale counter-terrorism operation in the Miirale Valley area of Bari region. According to a statement from the Puntland Defence Command, the operation, carried out over the past 48 hours, targeted ISIS militants hiding near the Miiraale Well.
“In the past 48 hours, our forces conducted a successful operation in the Miiraale Valley, eliminating over 23 ISIS terrorists who were hiding in the area. Additional security operations were also carried out in Nuur-ku-beenle Valley,” the statement read.
The Puntland Counter-Terrorism Task Force, which continues to hunt down fleeing ISIS remnants, also launched operations in several strategic locations, including Goob Mountain, Dhaban Qoxle, Ceelka Bire, Gaba Gabo Mountain, and Shinuur Mountain in the Al Miskat mountain range.
During the raids, the forces dismantled ISIS hideouts and command posts. Various supplies and equipment abandoned by the militants as they fled were seized. Puntland authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operations aimed at eradicating terrorist cells hiding in remote areas of the region.
