Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, has called for enhanced international partnerships to support Somalia’s journey toward peace, stability, and development. Speaking at an Iftar gathering on Tuesday evening in Mogadishu, Minister Fiqi underscored the importance of unity, solidarity, and collaboration, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, brought together accredited ambassadors, international representatives, and senior government officials in a spirit of reflection and renewed commitment. Minister Fiqi commended the Ministry of Interior for its tireless efforts in strengthening ties with international partners, stressing that collective action remains vital in Somalia’s ongoing stabilisation and reconciliation process.
Highlighting Ramadan as a time of spiritual growth and shared values, the Minister expressed deep gratitude to Somalia’s partners for their steadfast support. He urged ambassadors and international organisations to sustain and expand their engagement, particularly in bolstering reconciliation, democratisation, and federalism initiatives. He also emphasised the need for continued financial support to ensure Somalia’s progress stays on track.
