(18 June 2025) DOHA (Halqabsi News) – The Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, paid an official visit to the Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College in Qatar on Tuesday, where he met with Somali National Army officer cadets currently receiving high-level training.
The Minister and his delegation were welcomed by the College Commander, Brigadier General Ali Mohamed Al-Fadala, who briefed them on the college’s advanced curriculum. Minister Fiqi then toured the training grounds, lecture halls, and technical centres.
A key focus of the visit was his meeting with the young Somali officers. The Minister delivered a powerful address, encouraging them to absorb all the knowledge and skills offered and to return home prepared to lead the reconstruction of Somalia’s armed forces.
“These officers represent the future of our national security,” Minister Fiqi stated. “Their training abroad must translate into leadership, professionalism, and service to the Somali people.”
The visit highlights the strong and growing defence partnership between Somalia and Qatar. Qatar has been a key supporter of the federal government both financially and militarily since 2017, and this collaboration plays a vital role in developing the next generation of leadership for the SNA and contributing to the nation’s long-term security.
