(10-04-23) BELGRADE – Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Sheikh Ali (Dodishe), the Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, arrived in Belgrade, Serbia today with his delegation following an official invitation from his Serbian counterpart, Mr. Bratislav Gasić. Minister Dodishe’s three-day working trip to Serbia will include various meetings with Serbian officials, led by the Minister of Interior and Security, Mr. Gasić.
The visit comes after the leaders of Somalia and Serbia, Hamza Abdi Barre and Ana Brnabić respectively, agreed to enhance bilateral relations between their two countries during a phone conversation on Friday. The Somali Prime Minister’s office reported that both leaders discussed potential areas of mutual cooperation.
One significant aspect of this cooperation is the training of Somali security forces. During his stay, Minister Dodishe will oversee the training of the security forces of the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Somalia, who have undergone four months of training in Serbia. This collaboration reflects the commitment of both nations to strengthening their friendly relations based on mutual interests.
In February, Serbia had already demonstrated its support for Somalia by sending military health professionals to the country and providing scholarships to Somali students. The ongoing collaboration in the areas of security, education, and healthcare showcases the growing partnership between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Serbia.
