(02-06-23) MOGADISHU — The elite Danab forces of the Somali National Army have successfully executed a planned operation in the Lower Jubba region on Thursday. The operation was primarily aimed at Al-Shabaab hideouts located in areas including Quds, Yaaq Dabayl, Saririha, Aboodinka, and Barja Allah.
During a briefing with the press, the Commander of the 5th Division, the 1st-6th Battalion of the Danab Command, Arab Dheeg Ahmed, gave insight into the details of the operation. Ahmed revealed that the forces managed to set ablaze a vehicle owned by a key Al-Shabaab officer named Abdirahman Gagale. According to Ahmed, Gagale, along with other Al-Shabaab members, had a narrow escape during the operation.
Following the completion of the operation, the Lower Jubba region has reportedly returned to calm. This successful operation will act as a stepping stone in the ongoing mission of the coalition forces in the Jubbaland region, paving the way for future initiatives targeted at the eradication of Al-Shabaab and the restoration of peace in Somalia.
