(28-06-23) MOGADISHU — On the auspicious occasion of Eid Ul-Adha, Somalia’s Defence Minister, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, marked the celebration with the Somali National Army (SNA) units from the 14th October Brigade stationed in the district of Janale, Lower Shabelle. Nur was accompanied by the recently appointed SNA Infantry Commander, General Ahmed Adan Ali.
During the visit, Minister Nur extolled the forces for their indefatigable sacrifices to safeguard the nation, allowing the public to relish the peace and stability their efforts have provided. He relayed a message of congratulations from President Hassan Sheikh to the troops on the frontlines in Janale, expressing gratitude for their service.
Nur underscored the lush surroundings of the Lower Shabelle region, once a popular destination for Eid celebrations and tourism. However, due to security issues, visitor numbers have dwindled. He, therefore, asked the army to redouble their efforts in establishing tranquillity in the country and liberating further territory from the enemy.
In response to the Minister’s address, the soldiers assured him of their continued commitment and gallantry in defending the nation.
