(28-06-23) BOSASO — A boat commissioned by Somali businesspeople and laden with an undisclosed quantity of cement was confirmed to have capsised in the waters off the Bari region on Wednesday. The vessel, named Shamis 4, had collected its cement cargo in Yemen and was en route to Bosaso, the commercial seaport town in the Bari region of Puntland.
Tragically, the vessel reportedly sank approximately 60 miles from the Bossaso coastline. According to some of the businesspeople who chartered the boat, the crew dispatched a distress call, signalling a plea for immediate emergency assistance. Further information on the incident remains sketchy.
