(11-07-23) MOGADISHU – In a meeting held in Mogadishu, the Speakers of Somalia’s two Houses of Parliament, Sheikh Adan Madobe of the Lower House and Abdi Hashi Abdullahi of the Upper House discussed the importance of expedited tasks and enhanced cooperation within the country’s 11th Parliament. The meeting, which took place on Tuesday at the parliamentary headquarters, Villa Baidoa, was also attended by their respective deputies.
The primary focus of the discussion was the need for the smooth execution of parliamentary sessions, a matter that has faced recent challenges due to disruptions or a lack of quorum.
To address these issues and improve overall parliamentary efficiency, both speakers agreed to conduct regular follow-up meetings concerning the functions of the Parliament.
This meeting was especially pertinent following recent cancellations of parliamentary sessions due to insufficient attendance or disruptive behaviour from some members of parliament (MPs).
