(05/08/23) MOGADISHU – Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre inaugurates the National Blood Bank Center, fulfilling the Somali community’s vital needs and advancing healthcare services.The long-awaited facility now stands as a crucial asset for the Somali community, addressing their essential requirements for blood supply.
During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Barre reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to improving essential public services, especially in healthcare and education. He commended the Ministry of Health and Human Services for initiating the blood centre, recognising the nation’s vulnerability to emergencies and the pressing demand for a well-equipped facility.
The National Blood Bank, initially established in 1976, has been non-operational for the past three decades, leaving a significant gap in access to blood supplies. With its revitalisation, the centre is now poised to cater to the critical demand for a reliable source of blood, bolstering healthcare capabilities across the country.
