(16/08/23) MOGADISHU – The Parliament of Somalia has passed the General Treasury of the Nation bill with a majority vote, successfully completing its third reading. The draft law of the National Treasury, which was presented for consideration through a show of hands, was opposed by Four MPs, rejected by Three members, and ultimately approved by 135 members.
The result of the vote was announced by the second deputy chairman of the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, who chaired the meeting.
Minister of Finance, Bihi Egeh expressed gratitude to the Parliament for endorsing the National Treasury bill. He emphasised that this legislation stands as a critical pillar for the Ministry of Finance to build upon, underscoring its critical role in shaping the financial landscape of the nation.
