(17-08-23) MOGADISHU – The Somali Bureau of Standards announced a fresh directive on Thursday. All enterprises, entrepreneurs, international organisations, and members of the Somali community importing an array of goods through the Port of Mogadishu and Aden Ade Airport are now mandated to obtain a valid certificate of conformity from the Bureau of Standards.
This enforcement, according to the Bureau, is to bolster consumer protection, enhance the quality of imported goods, and smooth the course of trade operations for both local and global stakeholders.
The regulatory body has clearly stipulated that entities failing to secure the required certification by the first of September will face penalties. This strict deadline highlights the paramount importance of immediate compliance with the new regulation.
