(27-08-23) LASANOD — Abduqadir Ahmed Aw-Ali (Firdhiye), President of the SSC-Khatuma administration, In a comprehensive speech delivered on Sunday, elucidated on the recent confrontations in Gooje Adde and the achievements of local forces against the Somaliland army.

Mr Firdhiye stated that his forces had inflicted a decisive defeat on Somaliland in the recent battle, capturing 280 prisoners, including several senior officers charged with war crimes. Additionally, 42 wounded captives, captured in the vicinity of the Gojacadde camp, are currently in SSC custody.

Responding to Somaliland President Muse Bihi, Mr Firdhiye issued a stern warning against any further military attempts to seize Lasanood. ‘Muse Bihi clearly harbours a thirst for conflict,’ Mr Firdhiye asserted. ‘However, our army and the very people who taught him a lesson stand prepared. We shall not be the aggressors.’

Moreover, Mr Firdhiye accused the retreating Somaliland forces of planting explosives in vacated areas. He called for immediate investigations into these allegations to ensure civilian safety.

Addressing the citizens of Lasanood, Mr Firdhiye advised them against returning to the city, citing ongoing hostilities and the risk posed by both combat and potential unexploded ordnance.

In conclusion, the SSC president called upon the Somali federal government for support, urging them to assist in managing the destruction and challenges in Lasanood following recent conflicts.
