(06-09-23) MOGADISHU — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in the Adan Yabal district in the Middle Shabelle region on Wednesday, marking a significant phase of his inspection tour. The visit aims to boost the morale of national forces and foster collaboration with local communities in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Upon his arrival, President Hassan Sheikh met with officers of the Somali National Army, local forces, regional authorities, and community leaders.
Discussions centred on ways to augment their collective role in combating the Al-Shabaab group. Ali Gudlawe Hussein, President of HirShabelle State, and Brigadier General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhyidin, Commander of the Somali Armed Forces, were among the officials who warmly welcomed the President to Adan Yabal.
Before reaching Adan Yabal, President Hassan Sheikh was in Mahas, Hiiraan region. During his stay there, he addressed troops and unveiled plans for the initial phase of a military offensive. This offensive aims to liberate the regions of HirShabelle and Galmudug from the control of Al-Shabaab militants.
“The war against terrorism will continue until it is eradicated from our beloved country,” President Hassan Sheikh emphatically stated during his interactions with local forces and community leaders. The President’s visit to Adan Yabal signifies a multi-pronged strategy by the Federal Government of Somalia. It involves not just military action but also collaborative efforts with local communities, thereby aligning with broader regional initiatives to restore peace and stability in the country.
