(01-11-23) MOGADISHU — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has welcomed Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator in Somalia, George Conway, at his office to discuss recent developments in the country.
The meeting revolved around discussions on Somalia’s latest security, socio-economic, and political developments. Additionally, the conversation explored ways to expand UN assistance to the communities that have been recently liberated in the country.
During the meeting, PM Barre commended the United Nations for its steadfast assistance to Somalia. He urged the international community to intensify their support for the country’s stabilisation efforts, particularly in the ongoing war against Kharijite terrorism.
In response, Mr Conway reassured the Prime Minister of the UN’s commitment to continuing its support for Somalia, aligning with the government’s priority framework.
