(05/11/23) MOGADISHU — The Federal Government of Somalia declared its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Sunday. This ambitious step announced through a brief statement by the Somalia mission at the United Nations, marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s international relations.
The coveted seat, part of the five non-permanent seats on the Council, will be contested in mid-2024, during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
