(16/11/23) MOGADISHU – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) In a statement on Thursday, disclosed that the ongoing floods have tragically claimed the lives of 42 individuals, predominantly in the Jubaland and Hirshabelle States. This calamitous event has left almost one million residents in desperate need of assistance.
Hassan Abdulqadir Isse, the Director of the Emergency Operations Center at the Disaster Management Agency, highlighted the critical situation. He emphasised the extensive efforts undertaken to deliver aid and conduct rescue operations for those impacted by this natural disaster.
Moreover, the director raised an alarm regarding the anticipated heavy rainfall in various parts of the country. He strongly advised the public to exercise caution and prepare for potential adverse impacts. This warning underscores the urgency for increased vigilance and preparedness in the face of these challenging weather conditions.
