(20-11-23) BOSASO — Puntland state security forces, in a significant counter-terrorism operation have apprehended four Moroccan nationals affiliated with the ISIS-Somalia branch, as confirmed by Sadiq Aden Ali Doodishe, the spokesperson for the Somali Police Force, in Mogadishu on Monday.
The spokesperson revealed that the operation, executed on November 18, 2023, in the rugged terrain of Ali Miskad, successfully disrupted the activities of these individuals linked to Daesh, the ISIS-Somalia branch. This strategic operation underscores Puntland’s ongoing efforts to combat the spread of international terrorism within its borders.
In a related development, the Puntland Intelligence and Security Agency (PISA) successfully neutralized a series of mine explosions planned for Bosaso, the capital of the Bari region, on Sunday evening. The thwarted plot involved IEDs strategically placed at the entrance of a building occupied by a construction company, demonstrating the persistent threat of terrorism in the region.
Sadiq Aden Ali Doodishe highlighted the significance of these arrests and the foiled plot, underscoring Puntland’s dedication to eradicating terrorist activities. He assured that a comprehensive investigation is underway, with findings to be shared with the Somali public once concluded.
